Social Services at Flintshire County Council

A Breath of Fresh Air

When was the last time you thought about how refreshingly different your day had been? When was the last breakthrough moment you had that remind you why you chose to work in social care in the first place. These moments happen at Flintshire and they change lives for the better.

Trust. It’s at the heart of the way we think. The way we act. And it gives everyone the freedom to make independent decisions. Location. We think you’ll agree, there’s nowhere as stunning as Flintshire.

From children to adults, from the coastline to the countryside and from on site to in court, the sheer variety of places you will work in and people you will work is different to anywhere else. And with autonomy to challenge back and create innovate solutions to take people forward, the difference at Flintshire is clear. Combine this with the support of a connected team and the opportunity to connect with other organisations, and you’ll soon see a future of learning, development and opportunity. The Flintshire population is small. The Flintshire opportunity in Social Services is huge.

Where could you work?

  • In children’s services we’re consistently focused on what matters to the child, to the family, and how we listen to their voices. We like our staff to feel supported but also have autonomy to come up with creative solutions to help meet the needs of those we work with.

We have passionate people working and leading our teams that support people at the front door of social services, such as First Contact and the Early Help Hub, right up to frontline roles in Fostering, Targeted Support, Family Intervention, and Permanency and Court.

“It's amazing, I love it. Everybody's so nice, everybody's really welcoming and nurturing and you know you can go to them with any problem. We're like a little family. ”— Kayleigh, Social Worker

“We've got some lovely communities and we've got some really lovely residents who need our help, and as a team we all work together to make sure they get the best” - Cllr Christine Jones

“We want staff to do the right thing and not necessarily follow how it's been done before. So if staff have got ideas for that innovation, about changing things then we have a very open management team to actually respond to those ideas and make it happen.” - Neil Ayling, Chief Officer
